In a groundbreaking move, the Savannah Bananas will be taking their unique brand of baseball, Banana Ball, international in 2027, as announced by owner Jesse Cole. The team, known for its entertaining barnstorming style, will be playing in Canada and Mexico next year, alongside visits to various Major League Baseball and football stadiums.
What started as a way to spark fan interest at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia, has now evolved into a global phenomenon that Cole never anticipated when he founded the Savannah Bananas in 2016. The addition of five more teams for the 2026 season further solidified the sport’s popularity.
The upcoming 2027 schedule includes exciting stops in Monterrey and Tijuana, Mexico, in February, as well as dates at Rogers Centre in Toronto and Winnipeg in August. Cole expressed his excitement for the international expansion, highlighting that it has been a decade in the making.
In a unique twist, Banana Ball will introduce a new format at Notre Dame Stadium on June 26, featuring two baseball fields positioned on opposite corners of the football facility, with teams switching fields every inning to offer fans a close-up view of the action.
Additionally, a documentary produced by Disney showcasing the journey of the Savannah Bananas and Banana Ball will premiere at Atlanta’s Truist Park on June 12. The tour, which will span 79 stadiums across 74 cities, is expected to attract around 4.3 million fans, including visits to minor league venues.
