“SeatGeek Canada Hit with $22,500 Fines in Ontario”

SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that restricts the resale of event tickets above face value. The province’s consumer protection website indicates that the newly imposed fines on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.

One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for reportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly failing to disclose the full ticket price when a ticket was purchased from an original seller.

Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have not provided immediate responses to inquiries regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. Earlier in August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for comparable violations.
