“Fatal Roller-Coaster Incident at Six Flags Georgia”

One individual has passed away, and multiple others sustained injuries in an incident involving a roller-coaster at Six Flags in Georgia on Monday, as per law enforcement. The cause of the death and injuries at Six Flags Over Georgia, located roughly 25 kilometers northwest of Atlanta, has not been officially disclosed. Detectives from the Cobb County Police Department’s major crimes unit are conducting an investigation.

A representative from Six Flags mentioned that the park and local authorities promptly responded and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation by local law enforcement. The spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over the guest incident at the park today.

Although the roller-coaster was not explicitly identified by authorities or Six Flags, local TV stations aired footage of passengers being evacuated from the Goliath coaster.

The roller-coaster, inaugurated in 2006, boasts top speeds of around 113 km/h and heights of 61 meters, according to information on the park’s website. Riders can experience razor-sharp turns and soar over colossal hills during the approximately 3-1/2 minutes ride.

Lisa Cupid, chair of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, conveyed her sympathy in a statement, expressing sorrow for the family who lost a loved one and acknowledging the notification of the next of kin. Cupid highlighted the amusement park’s significant role in the county’s tourism, attracting visitors from the southeastern region.

This incident marks at least the seventh death at the Georgia park, including a fatality in 2006 where a man likely had a heart attack on the Goliath coaster, as reported by the Doan Law Firm specializing in amusement park accidents.

Notably, less than two weeks ago, Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California announced the retirement of its renowned X2 roller-coaster amidst legal disputes alleging severe brain injuries resulting from the ride. The park settled a wrongful death lawsuit from the family of a 22-year-old man who passed away after riding the coaster in 2022.

In a separate tragedy last year, a 32-year-old man lost his life after riding a high-speed roller-coaster at the Universal Epic Universe theme park in Florida. The cause of death was attributed to blunt impact injuries and ruled as accidental.
