Camryn Rogers, hailing from Richmond, British Columbia, had a remarkable 2026 season, clinching 11 hammer throw victories, a Canadian title, a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and setting a North American and national record. These achievements have positioned her as a standout track and field athlete.

The season culminated in Rogers being named one of the 10 women’s athlete of the year nominees by World Athletics. The final ranking will be determined through a four-way vote closing on October 17 at 6 p.m. ET. The top three finalists will be revealed on November 10, with the winner announced at the World Athletics Awards in Monaco on November 29.

Rogers showcased her dominance by securing her 11th win with a throw of 77.09 meters at the Silesia Diamond League event in Poland. Reflecting on her success, Rogers expressed her joy, stating, “This season has been amazing. I have had the best throw of my life, and to close the season with this throw is wonderful.”

The 27-year-old athlete achieved extraordinary performances throughout the season, with her furthest throw reaching 81.13 meters, setting a new North American and Canadian record. Rogers’ exceptional performance places her second only to world-record holder Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland.

Notably, Rogers also excelled at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, where she clinched another gold medal by breaking her own Games record with a throw of 74.91 meters. Her consistent success throughout the season, including victories at various prestigious events, has solidified her reputation as a top hammer thrower.

Rogers faces tough competition for the athlete of the year title, with other notable nominees such as Chase Jackson, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, and Audrey Werro. The final vote will involve contributions from various groups, including World Athletics fans, athletes, media members, and the World Athletics family.
