“Industrial fire at gas plant near Calgary leaves one critical”

One individual is in critical condition following an industrial fire at a gas plant located to the east of Calgary on Friday morning, as per EMS reports. The incident occurred at the CNRL Hussar plant, situated approximately 85 kilometers east of Calgary. Authorities were alerted to the fire at around 6:20 a.m., with the cause of the fire still unknown.

A man in his 70s was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, while another individual received on-site medical treatment, according to EMS. The fire departments of Hussar, Wheatland, and Calgary all responded to the emergency, with Calgary deploying a specialized HAZMAT team.

CNRL representative Julie Woo informed CBC News that the fire was brought under control at 5:45 a.m. and asserted that their primary focus is on the safety and protection of their employees, partners, and the surrounding environment. The company has committed to sharing further details as they become available.
