“New York Rangers’ Shesterkin Makes NHL History with Goal”

Igor Shesterkin, the goaltender for the New York Rangers, recently made NHL history by scoring a goal during a 5-1 victory over Tampa Bay in New York City. This achievement marked him as the 18th goaltender in NHL history to accomplish this feat.

Following his goal, Shesterkin was enthusiastically embraced by his teammates, who celebrated with him on the ice. The fans at Madison Square Garden showed their support by chanting “Igor! Igor!” as he made his way back to the bench to acknowledge his teammates.

This goal was a significant milestone for Shesterkin, making him the only Rangers goalie to have ever scored a goal in NHL history. Despite this being his first official goal, Shesterkin has shown interest in scoring in the past.

The opportunity arose for Shesterkin to score when Lightning coach Jon Cooper pulled Andrei Vasilevskiy off the ice for an extra attacker during the third period. Not only did Shesterkin excel in scoring, but he also demonstrated his skill in goalkeeping by stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced during the game, earning him the title of the first star of the game.
