Babcock, who will lead the team in official on-ice practices starting Thursday, was cleared to join the Oilers following an NHL investigation into his conduct during his brief tenure with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2023.
As the Oilers prepare for the upcoming season, they face challenges with key players sidelined due to injuries. Notably, goaltender Frederik Andersen and forward Matt Savoie are expected to miss training camp.
