A series of missile and drone attacks launched by Russia on Ukraine’s capital and its nearby areas caused injuries to at least 16 individuals overnight and during Thursday morning, as per local authorities. The Kyiv City Military Administration disclosed that the attacks took place at over 10 different locations, with a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy among the wounded, as stated in a release on Telegram.
Ukraine’s Air Force announced that it successfully neutralized or eliminated 131 Russian aerial targets during the overnight assault. The primary regions under attack were Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, with strikes recorded at 36 sites, resulting in intercepted target debris falling at five locations.
The offensive involved ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, as well as 157 drones and decoys, according to reports. Russia’s Defence Ministry specified that military strikes targeted metallurgical and electronics plants, military-industrial complex factories, energy facilities, and transportation hubs in the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions.
In Odesa, seven individuals, including two children, sustained injuries, with residential buildings and infrastructure suffering damage. Notably, a private residential structure in Odesa was demolished, while apartments, warehouses, kindergartens, vehicles, and garages incurred damage in various locations, as per the Ukraine State Emergency Service.
Furthermore, in Kyiv’s Dniprovsky district, warehouses, office buildings, residential structures, and vehicles were impacted, with similar damage observed in the Solomyansky and Darnitsky districts. The Podilsky district also reported damage to a non-residential building’s roof.
In the broader Kyiv region, including Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv, and Bucha districts, civilian areas and infrastructure were targeted, with a total of 33 sites sustaining damage, as reported by Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Administration. Notably, the Brovary district witnessed the most severe impact, with 14 sites affected, followed by Fastiv district with 10 damaged locations.
The affected sites encompassed private residences, warehouses, production facilities, and vehicles, though no casualties were reported, Tkachenko confirmed in a statement on Telegram.
