Sharone Vernon-Evans and Eric Loeppky both scored 14 points to lead Canada to a 3-0 victory over Cuba in the NORCECA men’s continental volleyball championship semifinals. The set scores were 26-24, 25-22, and 22-17 as Canada secured a spot in the final against either the United States or the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
Stephen Maar contributed 13 points to Canada’s win, outscoring Cuba with 39 attack points to 31, 8 blocks to 6, and 9 serves to 3. Alejandro Gonzalez was the top scorer for Cuba with 12 points.
With this victory, Canada secured a place in the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup in Poland. Additionally, the tournament will determine the teams qualifying for the final NORCECA qualification stage for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
