Noel Clarke, recognized for his portrayal in the science fiction series “Doctor Who,” has been formally charged with six sexual offenses, including two counts of sexual assault, as disclosed by England and Wales’ Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old British actor and filmmaker gained prominence for his role as Mickey Smith on the BBC program from 2005 to 2010. He also faces a charge of exposure and three charges of voyeurism. In legal terms, voyeurism denotes the act of observing or recording someone engaging in a private activity without their consent, typically for personal gratification.
The CPS reports that the alleged offenses involving Clarke occurred between 2007 and 2016 and are based on complaints lodged by five women.
This development emerges five years following a publication by The Guardian detailing accusations of sexual harassment, groping, and bullying against Clarke by 20 women. The report included claims from sources alleging experiences of being “sexually harassed or inappropriately” touched on the set of “Doctor Who,” allegations firmly refuted by the actor.
As per The Guardian, the recent charges were filed following an investigation initiated in September 2025. Clarke is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 21.
Apart from his role in “Doctor Who,” Clarke is renowned for his work in creating and starring in the trilogy of teen crime dramas, namely “Kidulthood” (2006), “Adulthood” (2008), and “Brotherhood” (2016), addressing themes of substance abuse, bullying, and violence in London’s streets. He directed “Adulthood” and helmed the direction and production of “Brotherhood.”
Among his other screen appearances are roles in “Centurion” (2010), “Fast Girls” (2012), “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013), and the television series “Bulletproof” (2018-2021).
