Former Montreal Canadiens winger André Pronovost, a four-time Stanley Cup champion with the team, has passed away at the age of 90, as confirmed by the Canadiens. Pronovost, a native of Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, played in the NHL for 10 seasons, representing Montreal, Boston, Detroit, and Minnesota.
Pronovost notably contributed to Montreal’s consecutive Stanley Cup victories from 1957 to 1960, amassing 109 points in 290 regular-season games and 22 points in 70 playoff appearances with the Canadiens. Following his tenure with Montreal, he concluded his NHL career with the Minnesota North Stars in the 1967-68 season, having been chosen in the expansion draft of 1967.
With a total of 198 points in 557 games, Pronovost left a lasting legacy in the NHL. Notably, he is the grandfather of New Jersey Devils forward Anthony Mantha.
