Vancouver police officer and youth charity CEO, Kal Dosanjh, has been charged with theft, fraud, and breach of trust offenses dating back to 2017. Dosanjh was taken into custody following his arrest on Thursday. The charges against him include multiple counts of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000, as revealed in a charge document. The allegations involve fraudulent activities and misappropriation of funds from investors in various property development projects such as Azura, Queen’s Park, and Sahara.
Dosanjh, along with Sarabjit Singh Gill, his co-defendant, are accused of engaging in fraudulent activities related to their partnership in multiple property development ventures, leading to several civil lawsuits. The duo has consistently denied any wrongdoing in these cases. Additionally, Dosanjh faces charges of committing fraud over $5,000 and theft from the KidsPlay Youth Foundation, a charity he established in 2015. The alleged offenses took place between December 8, 2017, and July 25, 2025.
Moreover, Dosanjh is charged with breach of trust by a public officer. Following his arrest, officers were observed removing boxes from Dosanjh’s residence listed in court documents. Dosanjh, who has served as a Vancouver Police Department employee for over two decades, founded the KidsPlay Youth Foundation to steer BC children away from criminal activities. The charity frequently organizes sports events to engage young individuals with community programs.
Dosanjh has been featured in various media appearances as the CEO of the charity. Alliance Lawyers in Langley, representing Dosanjh, issued a statement to CBC News asserting his innocence and emphasizing that an arrest does not equate to guilt or criminal responsibility. The legal representation deemed it inappropriate to draw premature conclusions based solely on the reported arrest of their client.
