Atlético Madrid has secured the services of Canadian forward Jonathan David on a loan deal from Juventus, the Italian club confirmed on Tuesday. The 26-year-old, hailing from Ottawa, featured in 46 matches for Juventus last season, netting eight goals, and has made an additional appearance at the beginning of the current season.
David will be vying for playing time in Madrid alongside Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth, who have been sidelined due to a muscle injury in the early stages of the season. Prior to his move to Juventus in 2025, David enjoyed a successful spell at Lille in France, where he scored 109 goals in 232 games, clinching Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup.
As Canada’s leading men’s scorer with 42 goals, David is set to join Atlético Ottawa’s parent team in the Canadian Premier League. Atlético Madrid’s upcoming fixtures include a match against Athletic Club on Saturday and a Champions League clash against Liverpool on September 9.
