Toronto Blue Jays star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has been cleared to return to action after being on the seven-day injured list. He is set to play against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees last week when he collided with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop from New York, during a play at third base in the sixth inning. Despite the collision that dislodged his helmet, Guerrero managed to score before leaving the game.
After passing his final concussion tests, Guerrero rejoined the team on Friday. He also participated in a minor league rehabilitation game for single-A Dunedin, where he doubled and took swings in the batting cage.
In the upcoming game, Guerrero will bat second in the lineup following the Blue Jays’ 3-1 loss to the Yankees in the previous game. To make room for Guerrero’s return, Davis Schneider, an infielder/outfielder, was sent down to triple-A Buffalo.
Guerrero currently holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Before the injury, he was on a good streak, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
