The World Sikh Organization of Canada reported a violent incident at the Nanaksar Gurdwara temple in northeast Edmonton that resulted in injuries to two individuals. According to the organization, an intruder entered the temple early Friday morning and assaulted people inside. The incident also involved an attack on the Sikh scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Law enforcement is currently present at the scene, and the Gurdwara has been closed to the public as investigations are ongoing. Edmonton police confirmed that a stabbing occurred inside the temple, with officers responding to the incident at 5:08 a.m. in the vicinity of 14 Street and Horsehill Rd. An adult male suspect was apprehended, and emergency medical services treated two adult males for non-life-threatening injuries.
The police are actively investigating the matter, and further updates are anticipated. Authorities are scheduled to provide additional information during a news conference later today.
