“Iran’s FM Slams Trump’s ‘Economic Warfare’ Threats”

Iran’s foreign minister dismissed recent threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced intentions to initiate an “unprecedented economic operation” against Iran. Abbas Araghchi stated that Trump’s plans were a diversion from America’s own economic crisis, emphasizing that persisting with failed policies would lead to more defeats and hostility from Iranians. Araghchi highlighted the global threats posed by the U.S.’s economic tactics.

Trump’s declaration of imposing “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale” against Iran came after failed attempts to secure a lasting peace agreement. In a social media post, Trump warned of severe economic consequences for countries aiding Iran and called for global isolation of the Iranian threat without specifying any nations or measures.

China, a significant buyer of Iran’s oil, could face repercussions if the U.S. escalates economic measures against Iran. Chinese officials stressed the need for a diplomatic and political resolution rather than resorting to sanctions and pressure tactics.

Dan Shapiro, a former U.S. ambassador, criticized Trump’s approach, noting that Iran could endure economic hardships and retaliate against the U.S. and its allies. Shapiro highlighted the need for a more strategic and diplomatic approach to avoid further escalations in the conflict.

Despite facing prolonged economic sanctions and failed negotiations, Iran and the U.S. remain at an impasse in their peace talks. Trump hinted at a potential resumption of discussions in the future, but no concrete steps have been taken to extend the negotiation period.

The situation reflects a deadlock in diplomatic efforts, with both countries seemingly distant from reaching a peaceful resolution. The ongoing tensions underscore the challenges in finding a sustainable agreement between Iran and the U.S.
