“UK Players Compete for £411M Powerball Jackpot”

The current Powerball jackpot has soared to an impressive £411 million, as disclosed by lottery officials today. Despite its recent introduction in the UK, Powerball has sparked significant enthusiasm among UK players during one of its largest rollovers to date.

If a UK player clinches the jackpot, it would mark the largest lottery win ever in the UK, surpassing the current £195 million record set by an anonymous EuroMillions ticket-holder in 2022. The upcoming draw on Thursday will signify the 40th consecutive rollover draw, nearing the Powerball history record of 47 consecutive draws that led to the $1.817 billion (£1.336 billion) jackpot won on Christmas Eve last year in Arkansas.

The game has transformed individuals into multi-millionaires across the US, with five jackpots already claimed in 2026. UK players are now in contention for the massive top prize. Prior to the ongoing streak, the largest Powerball jackpot won this year was $250.8 million, also in Arkansas in March.

Andy Carter, the Senior Winner’s Advisor at Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, expressed, “The UK has just embarked on its Powerball journey, and players now have the opportunity to compete for the £411 million prize. This jackpot ranks among the largest in Powerball’s history, offering a potentially life-changing and even generation-changing triumph.”

To have a shot at winning this extraordinary prize, players must secure their tickets before 11.55pm on Wednesday, August 5. Powerball made its debut in the UK in collaboration with the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), offering a customized version of the game for UK participants.

Priced at £4 per line, UK players can vie for the shared jackpot by matching five main numbers plus the Powerball, with the jackpot disbursed to UK winners over 30 years. The UK edition includes an exclusive ‘Match 2 main numbers’ prize tier, providing a fixed prize of £8 to UK players.

Additionally, the ‘Match 5 main numbers’ tier guarantees a fixed prize of £1 million, while other prize tiers offer estimated prizes that vary based on the drawn numbers and the number of winners in each tier. Players must select five main numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26 or opt for a Lucky Dip.

In 2026, Powerball has already minted several US jackpot winners, setting the stage for UK players to enter the race for this massive prize.
