A child was injured at a park in Cardiff after shards of glass were discovered glued to a slide. The incident, which took place between 2pm and 4pm, left the 10-year-old boy with ripped clothes and a minor cut. The boy’s mother, who chose to remain anonymous, explained that her son, accompanied by his nan, sister, and cousin, unknowingly slid over the glass fragments.
Expressing her concerns to Wales Online, the mother shared that her son was upset and reluctant to revisit the play area following the distressing incident. She mentioned that despite the ripped shorts and minor cut, her son is physically fine but emotionally shaken by the ordeal.
The outraged mother criticized the malicious act, expressing her disappointment that a place meant for children’s enjoyment turned hazardous. She emphasized her son’s reluctance to trust the park again, highlighting the impact of the incident on his sense of safety.
Following the incident, the mother reported the issue to the police and reached out to the local council. Subsequently, a warning sign was placed on the slide cautioning park users against using glass on the equipment.
South Wales Police confirmed receiving a report about the incident, where a child sustained a minor injury and clothing damage due to the glass shards. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to identify the perpetrator responsible for endangering children’s safety at the park.
