Kim Kaplan, who knew Grimson well and considered him a friend, described him as a “monster” with a dark, hidden side that she believes authorities should continue to explore. She particularly emphasized the need for justice in cases like the unsolved disappearance of Simon Parkes, a Royal Navy radio operator who went missing in 1986.
Kim revealed that she first met Grimson in 1981 through her Royal Navy partner and had no inkling of his predatory behavior towards young recruits at the time. Despite his charming and seemingly friendly demeanor, Grimson was later convicted of murdering two men from the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious.
