A woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for masterminding a deadly acid attack on her former spouse. Paris Wilson, aged 35, played a crucial role in orchestrating the brutal assault on Danny Cahalane, where sulfuric acid was hurled at him in his residence on Lipson Road, Plymouth, on February 21, 2025.
The 38-year-old father of two sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them on May 3 the following year after spending weeks in the hospital. Wilson was found guilty of manslaughter and attempted kidnapping but was acquitted of murder after a lengthy trial at Winchester Crown Court.
Ramarnee Bakas, 24, from Islington, London, who was convicted of manslaughter during the trial, has been imprisoned for 10 years. Additionally, Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 23, from Neasden, London, and Israel Augustus, 27, from Tottenham, London, were sentenced to 31 and 30 years respectively for their involvement in the murder.
During the sentencing, Wilson broke down in tears in the courtroom. Ms Justice Heather Norton admonished her, stating that she understood the potential consequences of an acid attack. The judge emphasized that Wilson’s primary concern at the time, regardless of her motives such as money, security, or vengeance, was self-preservation.
Mr. Cahalane, a fitness instructor and drug dealer, owed a substantial sum of around £120,000 to an international crime syndicate but had been gambling with the money. In January the previous year, he narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt by three individuals.
Tragically, on the early morning of February 21st, Danny was ambushed at his residence in Lipson Road, Plymouth, while his young daughter slept upstairs. The vicious attack resulted in severe facial injuries due to the acid assault.
