Temperatures are set to decrease tomorrow after a scorching heatwave today, with the Met Office predicting possible heavy rain in some areas across the country.
The south-east of England may experience temperatures up to 35C today in what marks the fourth heatwave of the year. However, the heat is not expected to be as widespread as in previous warm periods, with cooler temperatures ranging from high-teens to low-20s in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England.
Tomorrow, temperatures are forecasted to cool off across the board, with southern and south-eastern regions expecting mid to high-20s temperatures. While conditions may still feel warm in the sunshine, most parts of the country will revert to typical temperatures for this time of year.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick mentioned, “The good news is, if you’re not a fan of the heat, that overall temperatures will come down into a slightly cooler day [tomorrow].”
Light showers are expected in parts of England and Wales tomorrow, with the possibility of heavier rain in northern regions, especially Scotland.
According to Ms. Criswick, there might be light showers in the south, but the majority of showers, possibly heavy, are likely to affect the north, with sporadic occurrences in England and Wales.
Met Office forecast maps indicate heavy showers in 29 counties on Thursday, all located in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
BBC Weather forecasts suggest that some showers in Scotland could turn thundery tomorrow, with a band of cloud and local drizzle pushing south-eastwards in northern areas, followed by sunshine.
The weekend outlook includes sunny spells for most areas on Friday, scattered showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and potential rain spots on Sunday as clouds build up later in the day.
