Explosives Suspected: Vehicle Crash in Amsterdam

A vehicle suspected of carrying explosives crashed in a residential area in Amsterdam after a high-speed chase by the police. The pursuit took place following an ATM robbery in Germany earlier in the day. Authorities, including police, military, and emergency responders, are currently present at the scene on Nierkerkestraat in Osdorp.

The impacted street has been sealed off, and residents within a hundred-meter radius have been evacuated as a precaution due to the discovery of potential explosives in the crashed car. The individuals in the vehicle, described as “several young men,” fled the crash site and are currently at large, as reported by RTL.

Allegedly, the police chase began after the ATM robbery in Germany involving a BMW M1 around 4:30 am today. The vehicle was initially spotted in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany, before being sighted in the Netherlands later in the morning.

Subsequently, the same vehicle was involved in a crash during the police pursuit in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. According to Dutch news outlet Nos, no money was stolen during the ATM incident, although the building housing the ATM sustained significant damage.

Following the explosion at the ATM, a fire erupted, but all residents managed to evacuate safely. Armed forces personnel and specialized officers are currently on the scene in Fürth.

In response to the incident, a police helicopter was dispatched to monitor the area, and the site of the explosion was cordoned off. The authorities declared a major incident, with multiple ambulances observed in the vicinity.
