The results revealed a predominance of negative descriptors, with “dangerous” being the top choice among respondents. Other terms that emerged in the poll included “corrupt,” “racist,” and “out-of-touch.”
Despite the prevalent negative sentiments, there were also positive attributes attributed to Trump, mostly from Republican voters. Terms like “honest,” “inspiring,” and “intelligent” were used to describe him. Conversely, Democrats tended to use less flattering terms.
The latest YouGov poll indicated a decline in Trump’s approval rating, with a net approval rating of negative 24 percent. This downturn in public opinion coincided with various controversies during his second term, including the delayed release of the Epstein files, contentious immigration policies, and a controversial war with Iran impacting global cost of living.
Specifically, disapproval rates were high for Trump’s handling of immigration and race relations, while his approach to crime received slightly better ratings. Trump highlighted a significant drop in homicide rates during his tenure, which, while supported by records, raised some debate due to historical crime data standardization challenges.
The negative public perception of Trump could potentially affect his party’s performance in the upcoming midterm elections.
