“3-Year-Old Bitten by Venomous Snake in Amazon Delivery”

A father shared his harrowing experience after his three-year-old daughter was bitten by a venomous snake that was hiding underneath an Amazon delivery. The incident took place in Santa Clarita, California, when Manuel Barajas’ daughter, Addy, went outside to retrieve a gift that had arrived in an Amazon package. As Addy reached for the package, a Southern Pacific rattlesnake concealed under the brown padded envelope bit her left hand.

Addy’s mother, Lynn, promptly took her to nearby first responders at a supermarket parking lot, who then rushed her to a hospital for antivenom treatment. Addy had to spend two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit and undergo two additional rounds of antivenom therapy. Fortunately, she has been recovering well since then.

Barajas, who was away on a business trip during the incident, hurried back home to be with his family. They are now facing substantial medical expenses due to Addy’s hospitalization, antivenom treatments, and time in the pediatric ICU. Barajas also had to take about a week off work to care for his family after the frightening snake bite incident.

To cover the overwhelming costs, Barajas created a GoFundMe page seeking help from the community. He expressed gratitude for the support received so far, with the campaign raising over $13,800 from numerous donors. Those willing to contribute to Addy’s recovery can visit the GoFundMe page.
