A traveler who came close to being sucked out of a Ryanair aircraft has recounted the moment a loud noise disrupted the flight. Ljubisa Karović, a 61-year-old entrepreneur from Serbia, was resting on board flight FR1879 from Greece to Germany when the window beside him shattered, causing chaos as objects flew around. Despite sustaining burns and bruises on his right arm, Ljubisa managed to share his harrowing experience of the incident.
Describing the ordeal, Ljubisa emphasized the impact of the explosion that occurred, leaving a lasting memory of the frightening event. He mentioned being partially pulled out of the window and losing consciousness multiple times during the incident. Despite the pain and discomfort he continues to endure, Ljubisa expressed gratitude for surviving the terrifying event, attributing it to fate and his belief in a higher power.
Following the emergency landing, Ljubisa was swiftly taken to a hospital for treatment, where his condition was deemed miraculous by his Greek lawyer. Recalling the moments of the incident, Ljubisa’s wife, Svetlana Grković, highlighted the quick actions of fellow passengers in securing her husband and preventing further danger. Ryanair commended its cabin crew for their exceptional response during the crisis.
In response to the incident, Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, stated that initial investigations suggested a possible foreign object causing damage to the engine during takeoff in Thessaloniki. Despite this, he affirmed that the aircraft, a Boeing 737 operated by Ryanair’s subsidiary Malta Air, had undergone thorough servicing and maintenance within the past two years.
