Harrowing video footage captured the disturbing moment when killer Mohammed Umar Khan was seen playing with a knife on the premises of the same school where he later fatally stabbed 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose.
The chilling video, filmed by Umar Khan at All Saints Catholic High School on September 16, 2024, months before the tragic incident, revealed that Umar had brought a weapon onto school grounds. This footage was the initial indication that investigators had of Umar Khan’s possession of a weapon at the school.
In February 2025, Harvey was tragically stabbed in the heart by Umar at a high school in Sheffield. Khan was subsequently sentenced to a minimum of 16 years after a trial that exposed the disturbing events leading up to the murder.
The upcoming Channel 4 documentary series, ‘Murder Case: Digital Detectives,’ delves into the horrific attack and the digital evidence that contributed to Umar Khan’s conviction. Digital forensics unveiled Snapchat disputes between Harvey, Umar, and their peers in the days leading to the fatal altercation.
Further examination of images on Umar’s phone revealed his fascination with posing with various weapons, including the one used to carry out the heinous act.
Investigators discovered that Umar had a tendency to carry weapons, supported by images showing him holding knives, one of which was the murder weapon. Searches on Umar’s phone exposed concerning inquiries related to anger management and a deep interest in weapons.
The fatal stabbing was not a spontaneous act of violence but rather a culmination of escalating online conflicts, a fascination with weapons, and a troubled teenager who lacked adequate support systems.
The documentary also sheds light on missed opportunities in preventing the tragedy. All Saints Catholic High School commemorated Harvey as a beloved student dearly missed by all.
Harvey’s family condemned the murder as senseless and preventable, expressing frustration over apparent oversights highlighted in a school-commissioned report. Harvey’s mother, Caroline, vowed to advocate for change in memory of her son.
The episode is scheduled to air on Channel 4 this Thursday at 9 pm.
