Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been released from the hospital following a successful lung transplant surgery. She expressed her gratitude towards healthcare workers for their support. Are Holm, the Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet, mentioned that the royal’s condition is progressing well and will undergo close rehabilitation monitoring in the upcoming months.
Married to Crown Prince Haakon, the princess underwent the lung transplant in June due to her battle with pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that had deteriorated since her diagnosis in 2018. In a statement, she thanked organ donors, her family, friends, and medical professionals for their unwavering support during her challenging journey.
The news of the princess’s improving health comes shortly after her son, Marius Borg Høiby, was set to be released from prison. Marius was convicted of rape and sentenced to four years in prison. He will continue serving his sentence at his stepfather’s residence with an electronic ankle monitor, as confirmed by his defense attorney, Petar Sekulic.
Marius, the son of Norway’s future queen from a previous relationship, was found guilty of two counts of rape earlier this year. Reports suggest that he will participate in a police-run program to prevent any future offenses.
