Police in Hackney have initiated a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing that occurred this afternoon. The incident took place around 1.42pm on Downs Park Road near Mossbourne Community Academy and Hackney Downs Park.
Authorities have stated that the stabbing is believed to be unrelated to the school’s students and is being treated as an isolated event. The victim, a man in his late 20s, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with his family notified and receiving support from specialized officers.
No arrests have been made yet, and the Metropolitan Police are actively pursuing leads. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command mentioned that the investigation is in its early stages, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, responsible for policing in the area, expressed concern over the incident occurring in broad daylight near a school. However, she reassured the community that there is no indication of involvement from the school’s students and promised ongoing updates.
