Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with a homicide inquiry in Leicester following the death of a man who sustained severe injuries and died subsequently.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident on Compton Road during the early hours of Sunday, alerted by the East Midlands Ambulance Service at 6.58 am, who arrived first on the scene.
The victim, a male in his late twenties, was discovered in the street by paramedics and was declared deceased at the location.
The arrest of two men, aged 36 and 27, on suspicion of murder occurred later, and they are currently under police custody.
At the crime scene, forensic investigators were observed working diligently, with a blue police tent set up within the cordon early Sunday morning. Although the tent has been removed, the cordon and privacy screens remain in place on Compton Road, close to Narborough Road.
Leicestershire Police mentioned that an investigation is ongoing to determine how the man ended up in the street and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The deceased’s family has been notified and is receiving support from trained personnel.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, emphasized that the inquiry is in its preliminary stages and urged anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.
He urged the public, stating, “We are in the very early stages of this investigation with full enquiries being carried out as we continue to establish what has happened. As we progress our enquiries, I do of course ask that anyone with any information makes contact with us as soon as possible. Were you in the area of Compton Road this morning? Did you see or hear anything which caused you concern? I would also ask anyone with CCTV footage or dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.”
Furthermore, he added, “Further enquiries including speaking with witnesses, CCTV analysis and forensic examination is ongoing. We also have officers in the area and at the scene. We understand the concern this incident may cause so please do speak to officers in the area about any information or concerns you may have. A major Incident Public Portal has been opened and I would ask anyone with any information to make contact with us as soon as possible.”
