A British teenager, described as “deeply loved,” has tragically passed away following a fall from a balcony in Athens. The 17-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after plummeting from a hotel balcony in Chalandri, a district in the Greek capital, early on July 3. Despite being rushed to Erythros Stavros Hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.
Reportedly, the teen fell around four meters and suffered multiple injuries. Prior to the incident, he had purchased alcohol from a local kiosk accompanied by a friend. A statement released by his family through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office praised him as an “exceptional guitarist” who brought happiness wherever he went.
The family expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their cherished son, emphasizing his positive impact on others through his music and joyful demeanor. They highlighted the irreplaceable void left by his passing and requested privacy as they mourn. Acknowledging the ongoing investigation, they urged against speculation and thanked everyone for their support during this trying time.
In addition to their tribute, the family emphasized the importance of obtaining a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) for medical coverage while traveling abroad, underscoring its significance in ensuring financial support for medical treatment, especially in state-run healthcare facilities. They concluded by asking for respect for their privacy and stated their decision not to issue further statements at this time.
