Instructor Jumps from Plane, Student Lands Safely

A tragic incident occurred in Argentina as a pilot instructor, Leandro Andrés Bertazzo, reportedly leaped to his death from an aircraft during a training flight. The 42-year-old pilot left his 22-year-old trainee to handle the situation, forcing her to land the plane on her own near Toledo, south of Córdoba.

The student, named Rosario, recounted that Bertazzo calmly instructed her before exiting the aircraft mid-air. Following his departure, she took control, successfully executing a safe landing of the Cessna C-150 light aircraft. Despite the challenging circumstances, Rosario managed to radio for help and follow emergency protocols without incident.

Authorities discovered Bertazzo’s body in a field shortly after the distressing event. Colleagues and school officials expressed shock over the incident, as Bertazzo was described as a dedicated and professional pilot with no apparent signs of distress prior to the incident.

The aviation community in Córdoba remains stunned by the tragic turn of events. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to Bertazzo’s actions, with early indications pointing towards a deliberate decision. The Federal Justice of Córdoba is actively involved in the inquiry.

Despite regular health checks, no warning signs were detected before the incident, leaving colleagues and officials perplexed by Bertazzo’s sudden and unexpected actions. The community mourns the loss of the experienced pilot, who had aspirations of joining a major airline.
