“Iran Launches Missiles at Ships in Strait of Hormuz”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly launched two missiles targeting commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The incident resulted in significant damage to two ships but fortunately did not cause any casualties. The accuracy of these reports could not be independently confirmed by the Mirror.

Tensions between the US and Iran escalated following joint airstrikes by the US and Israel on key Iranian facilities on February 28. However, a recent peace agreement between the two countries aimed to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz and ensure Iran’s disposal of enriched uranium reserves.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on June 17 to halt the conflict within 60 days. Efforts are underway to negotiate a lasting peace deal, restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and address the unresolved issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

As part of the agreement, Iran committed to resuming merchant ship movements between the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman within 30 days. The US agreed to lift the naval blockade on Iran and restore shipping to full capacity within 30 days of signing the MoU.

The significance of the Strait of Hormuz, where approximately 20% of the world’s traded oil passes through, has been a focal point in the conflict, causing global market concerns when its closure was threatened.
