“Convicted Sex Offender Threatens Police with Violence”

A man previously convicted of sexual assault and serving jail time for the crime threatened British Transport Police (BTP) staff over the phone with violent actions. The man, identified as Mansoor Ahmed, 31, residing in West London, had been arrested by BTP detectives for sexually assaulting two women on the London Underground in late 2020.

On May 27, Ahmed made a call to the BTP First Contact Centre, referencing his crime and verbally abused the call handler for publicizing his criminal acts and mugshot. Expressing anger over the public exposure of his crimes after the conviction, Ahmed threatened to physically harm BTP staff at rail stations. He made disturbing threats of violence, including stabbing officers and using acid on them.

Ahmed was swiftly located by detectives within two days and taken into custody on May 29. During a police interview, an audio recording revealed Ahmed crying upon realizing the consequences he faced for his actions. He mentioned discovering online articles labeling him a “predator” alongside his mugshot, attributing his aggressive behavior to the public disclosure by BTP.

Following his arrest, Ahmed was held in custody and later sentenced to six months in prison at Inner London Crown Court. BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith condemned Ahmed’s reprehensible threats towards their personnel, emphasizing the importance of swiftly apprehending him to prevent harm to officers or the public. Smith highlighted Ahmed’s extensive criminal history and reiterated the zero-tolerance stance against such abusive behavior within the BTP.
