Police are conducting a murder investigation following the tragic death of a woman in a fire at a farm in Rochdale. The incident took place at Higher Tunshill Farm, where the body of a woman in her 30s was found inside stables during the blaze. Firefighters were alerted to the fire around 12:30 pm on Friday and rushed to the scene at Milnrow, Rochdale.
Witnesses observed the intense flames engulfing the building, accompanied by thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Portions of the farm have been cordoned off as forensic experts work at the site. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and has been released on bail by the authorities.
It is suspected that the abandoned stables were undergoing renovations when the fire occurred. Reports indicate that the fire spread rapidly, causing significant damage before emergency services arrived at the scene. The Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed the tragic discovery, stating that investigations are ongoing and the scene is being preserved for further examination.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service refrained from commenting on the matter due to the active police investigation.
