Nigel Farage was seen leaving an upscale private club this week, marking his third visit there in a month. While Farage enjoyed his time at the exclusive venue, a parliamentary debate on energy and vehicle taxation was ongoing. In a previous instance, Farage criticized Keir Starmer for increasing electricity generator taxes, calling it a “lunatic green levy.”
Farage was at Harry’s Bar in Mayfair for a Jewish charity lunch before leaving around 3:09 pm. The club, frequented by celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham, offers high-end dining options such as steak tartare, veal, and tomato salad. Membership at Harry’s Bar costs £3,750 annually with a £1,850 joining fee.
Despite missing the taxation bill debate, Farage faced criticism for not attending a Westminster Hall debate on MPs holding second jobs. Richard Burgon expressed disappointment over Farage’s absence, highlighting his substantial earnings from secondary employment. Farage also attended Prime Minister’s Questions before heading to the private club.
This is not the first time Farage has opted for fine dining over crucial political engagements. Previously, he was spotted at a Brexit anniversary celebration as MPs discussed defense spending. Critics, including Shadow defence minister Mark Francois, condemned Farage’s absence from debates related to national security.
Earlier, Farage retreated to Oswald’s, a private members’ club, after facing backlash in the Commons for controversial remarks. Anti-racism groups condemned his comments, accusing him of inciting division. Keir Starmer and the Prime Minister both criticized Farage’s behavior, emphasizing the importance of respecting the victim’s family.
Reform UK was contacted for a response, but no comment was provided.
