A man has been prohibited from consuming alcohol after he assaulted a dog and threw a flapjack at a police officer’s groin, causing significant discomfort. Kristen Naylor also tossed a Pot Noodle at the officer while in custody following his arrest for attacking his father.
The incident unfolded at Naylor’s mother’s residence, where the 29-year-old engaged in a physical altercation with his father, John, who was recovering from surgery. Naylor, who returned home in a heavily intoxicated state, clashed with his dad, prompting John to decide to depart with his two dogs, knowing Naylor’s behavior under the influence.
In a fit of rage, Naylor demanded his dog back from his father, leading to a violent confrontation where he repeatedly struck his dad. Despite John’s attempts to escape and seek help from a neighbor, Naylor persisted in his aggression, warning his father that touching his dog would result in severe consequences.
During the altercation, one of the dogs was caught up in the scuffle. Police were summoned, and Naylor, displaying obstructive behavior, was transported to custody where he further displayed hostility by throwing food items at the officers, including hitting one with a flapjack in the groin area.
Following a court hearing, Naylor received a 12-month suspended sentence along with various requirements, including community service, rehabilitation activities, alcohol abstinence, and mental health treatment. He was also ordered to cover prosecution costs. Naylor admitted guilt to charges of assault causing bodily harm, animal cruelty, and assaulting an emergency worker.
