“England Fan Endures 17-Hour Bus Journey to Atlanta”

England enthusiast Steve Jackson endured a grueling 17-hour bus journey from New York to Atlanta. Upon arrival in the scorching city, the 62-year-old, one of the early supporters to reach Atlanta, expressed his exhaustion to the Mirror at the bus station.

Steve described the journey as a nightmare, highlighting the discomfort, lack of sleep, absence of phone charging points, three bus changes, and seven pickups. Hailing from Bournemouth, Dorset, Steve opted for the bus route to save money, as flight prices from New York to Atlanta soared up to £700.

Fans, including Gary Taylor, criticized the exorbitant costs associated with following England at the World Cup, emphasizing the financial burden on the working class. Gary, a successful estate agent, benefitted from discounted tickets as part of the Football Association’s program but noted the high expenses incurred by other England supporters.

Expressing discontent with FIFA’s pricing strategy, Gary called for a reevaluation of ticket costs for future tournaments to make them more accessible. Fans like Alan Thomas echoed the sentiment, urging for changes to prevent further escalation of prices and ensure affordability for all supporters.

Despite the challenges, fans like the couple from Essex continued their extensive travel across the United States and Mexico to support their favorite team. As the debate on FIFA’s pricing policies intensifies, supporters are hopeful for a more inclusive approach in upcoming tournaments.
