Scottish Man Fatally Shot in Caribbean Tragedy

A man from Scotland tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on a Caribbean island, leading to his family sharing a heartfelt tribute. The victim, Daniel Vettrino from Dysart in Fife, was fatally shot on Canouan island in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday night. Authorities are currently investigating the shooting, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) responded to the incident in the Gym Hill area at 11.30 pm on Wednesday, where Mr. Vettrino was pronounced dead. His brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, expressed his sorrow in a Facebook post, describing Daniel as a kind-hearted individual who only wished for success and happiness for those around him.

Mr. Vettrino Kolberg reflected on his brother’s impact on people’s lives, highlighting his unique qualities and his talent for socializing. The family is devastated by the loss and appreciative of the support they have received. They are working diligently to bring Daniel home and plan to arrange a farewell opportunity for well-wishers.

In an official statement, the RSVGPF confirmed the details of the incident, stating that Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old technical services manager from Colombia/Scotland, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased by the medical examiner. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death as investigations continue.

The Foreign Office has stated that it is assisting the family of the deceased British man in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
