A man has been accused of attempted murder following an incident where a vehicle hit several pedestrians outside a bustling shopping center in West London.
Timir Ahmed Mohamed, aged 34, reportedly fled the scene at Ealing Broadway on Saturday at approximately 2:30 pm, causing injuries to five individuals, three of whom needed hospital treatment.
Initial investigations were carried out by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London, but authorities have clarified that the incident is not linked to terrorism.
The Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday night that Mohamed, a native of Somalia residing in Grange Park, Ealing, faces charges of five counts of attempted murder, as well as dangerous driving, evading the scene, refusing to provide a breath sample for analysis, and criminal damage.
He has been detained and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained were life-threatening or life-altering, and the two individuals who did not require hospitalization were treated at the scene.
A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service stated: “We dispatched various resources, including ambulance crews, rapid response paramedics, a volunteer emergency responder team, and an incident response officer to the location. London’s Air Ambulance was also deployed.
“We provided care to three patients at the site, transporting one of them as a priority to a major trauma center by road. The other two patients were taken to a nearby hospital.”
