“US and Iran Agree to Ease Tensions in Strait of Hormuz”

The US and Iran have agreed to de-escalate tensions following recent strikes in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz, as per a statement from a US official. Discussions on various aspects of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) are scheduled to proceed, allowing vessels to navigate freely. Iran has not officially commented on its decision to cease strikes.

The US conducted retaliatory strikes against Iran in response to a drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump criticized the drone attack as a breach of the Ceasefire Agreement. Subsequently, the US military targeted Iranian drone and missile storage facilities and coastal radar sites.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iranian forces targeted a Singapore-flagged ship named Ever Lovely with a drone as it exited the Strait of Hormuz. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported the cargo ship’s incident southeast of Oman’s Dahit port.

The owner of Ever Lovely, Evergreen, confirmed that the vessel was following the recommended route through the strait when the attack occurred. All crew members and cargo remained unharmed.
