PlayStation has announced that it will be deleting numerous films purchased by users from their accounts in the coming months. Users received a “legal notice” explaining that due to licensing regulations, these movies will be removed from their accounts, rendering them inaccessible for viewing.
Users of PlayStation can enjoy streaming, renting, or buying movies on their up-to-date devices, including the PS4 and PS5. While previously accessible directly through the PlayStation store, the process is now facilitated through the Sony Pictures Core app. Affected users were informed that a total of 551 movies will be removed starting September 1.
Among the films being pulled are well-known titles such as Terminator 2, Total Recall, and Shaun The Sheep Movie – Farmageddon. Additionally, movies like Alan Partridge, The Evil Dead, Brighton Rock, The Deer Hunter, and Paddington will no longer be available to users, even if purchased.
In a message from PlayStation, it stated, “From September 1, 2026, due to our content licensing agreements, you will no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library.” The message concluded with a simple “Thank you, PlayStation Store” and a detailed list of the 550 affected films.
