A couple perceived as normal has been sentenced following disturbing messages on WhatsApp revealing their dark secret. Andrew Boyd, aged 41, and Lara Boyd, aged 40, residing in Tameside, appeared as a hardworking middle-aged pair to the public. However, they were actually heavily involved in cocaine use and excessive alcohol consumption. They were found to have taken inappropriate images of a child they were sexually interested in, as per reports from Manchester Evening News.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, it was disclosed that the police were alerted to an indecent image of a child linked to Andrew’s IP address. Subsequently, law enforcement officers visited their residence, leading to Andrew’s arrest. Various electronic devices, including an iPad, iPhone, Playstation 4, and laptop, were confiscated during the operation.
Despite Andrew confessing to engaging in sexual conversations on the messaging platform Kik, he denied sharing any child-related images. However, authorities discovered illicit pictures of a child that were taken without consent. The WhatsApp conversations indicated the child was a target of their sexual desires. Both individuals were later apprehended.
Andrew Boyd pleaded guilty to several charges, including voyeurism, distributing indecent images of children, and possession of extreme pornographic material. On the other hand, Lara Boyd admitted to voyeurism, publishing obscene content, and creating indecent images of children. They were both sentenced to two years in prison.
The victim, a child, expressed in a statement the lasting impact of the Boyds’ actions, causing recurring nightmares. Andrew, who was described as having sunk into a state of depravity fueled by alcohol and drugs, has since turned his life around and is now sober. Lara, feeling deeply ashamed, acknowledged her wrongdoing and has ceased drug use while reducing alcohol consumption significantly.
The court was informed of the complex nature of the couple’s relationship, with Lara reportedly enduring domestic violence from Andrew. Despite these challenges, they remain together. Judge Tina Landale emphasized the severity of the case and highlighted the significant impact on the victim.
