“Swift Rescue Saves Two After Plane Crash off Welsh Coast”

A plane crash near the UK coast prompted a swift rescue operation. Two individuals were saved after their small aircraft made an emergency landing close to the Welsh shoreline near Cardigan Island. The incident occurred off the coast of Gwbert, in southern Wales, not far from the Cliff Hotel and Spa.

The aircraft, identified as a microlight, landed in Cardigan Bay after encountering difficulties around 6 pm. Coastguards located the two occupants sitting on the plane’s wing in the sea. Both passengers were safely brought ashore by a lifeboat and transferred to the Welsh Ambulance Service, which had responded to the scene alongside RNLI crews from New Quay and Cardigan, and a coastguard rescue helicopter.

Although details on any injuries sustained by the occupants have not been disclosed by the coastguard, it is believed that they did not suffer serious harm during the incident. A coastguard spokesperson reported receiving a distress call about the microlight ditching into the water approximately nine nautical miles northwest of Cardigan Island.

In a separate incident earlier that day, a pilot tragically lost their life in a light aircraft crash near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon. Emergency services, including police, firefighters, ambulance crews, and an air ambulance, swiftly responded to the crash site following reports around 10 am. The pilot, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by Devon and Cornwall Police.

Authorities emphasized the importance of refraining from speculating on the crash circumstances and requested anyone with relevant footage to contact them directly rather than sharing it online. Superintendent Jo Arundale expressed condolences to the affected individual’s loved ones and urged the public to respect the privacy of those involved in the tragic event.
