Among the fans are enthusiasts who have purchased tickets to watch Luke Littler and Luke Humphries compete in a darts tournament at Madison Square Garden. Littler, a devoted Manchester United fan, and Humphries, a supporter of Leeds United, share a passion for major sporting events and were even spotted together at the Cheltenham races earlier this year.
The team led by Thomas Tuchel will fly from their base in Kansas City to New York on Friday, where the weather for the match is forecasted to be around 23°C, relatively cool for the season. Fans have made their way to New York from the previous England match in Boston using various modes of transportation such as planes, trains, cars, and buses, with England supporters arriving in significant numbers at transport hubs like the Port Authority bus terminal, Penn Station, and Grand Central Station.
At the well-known “Football Factory” pub, located beneath the iconic Empire State Building, fans gathered to watch other World Cup matches on TV. The pub, frequented by many Premiership club supporters, attracts hundreds of English fans every Saturday. Mark Harrison, a fan from Bedford, expressed his excitement for the game and hopes for England to secure a victory.
Mark Trigg, along with other fans, embarked on a cross-country World Cup journey across America, having already visited Miami and Tampa for the friendlies. Despite some travel mishaps, including a breakdown of their coach, the fans remain committed to following England throughout the tournament.
Ian Henderson, a passionate England supporter living in New Jersey, highlighted the anticipated vibrant atmosphere at the MetLife venue, known as the New York New Jersey Stadium for the World Cup.
