Three individuals have lost their lives in a fire that broke out in western London on the evening of June 20, as confirmed by the London Fire Brigade. About 100 firefighters and 15 fire trucks swiftly responded to the blaze on New Zealand Way, which ignited at approximately 6:52 pm following 19 emergency calls.
London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne stated at the scene on New Zealand Way in White City that the fire affected a single-story pavilion, with slightly over half of the structure sustaining fire damage. Firefighters rescued three men from the building, who were then treated on-site by London Ambulance Service paramedics. Unfortunately, two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third man was transported to the hospital for further medical care but succumbed later.
Initial reports of the fire were received by the brigade at 6:52 pm, prompting dispatch of crews from North Kensington, Acton, Chiswick, and nearby fire stations. Firefighters successfully brought the inferno under control by 9:25 pm. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway by the Brigade’s specialized fire investigation officers and the Metropolitan Police Service, according to Mr. Goulbourne.
