One individual has been apprehended following the discovery of a Nazi flag and a suspicious container inside a vehicle in the United States.
Law enforcement authorities are currently looking into the canister that was found in the vicinity of the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont on Thursday, June 18. A bomb squad promptly responded to the scene.
San Diego police officers, who were present at the Islamic Center at the time, observed the vehicle around 11:40 am.
After stopping the vehicle and detaining the driver, officers came across the Nazi flag and the suspicious container.
Subsequently, officers called in the Metro Arson Strike Team to assess the questionable item.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force was promptly informed and is collaborating with the San Diego Police Department.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no immediate threat to the center, and the investigation is ongoing.
Residents in the vicinity were instructed to remain indoors, while nearby businesses were evacuated.
In a statement on X, the San Diego Police Department stated, “The San Diego Police Department is currently on-site investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspicious device located at the intersection of Derrick Drive and Genesee Avenue.
“No explosive materials were discovered, and there are currently no active threats to the Islamic Center of San Diego or the neighboring community.
“The areas near the incident site remain closed as further investigation is conducted and are expected to be affected for several more hours as detectives process evidence. Please avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this ongoing investigation.”
