A mother, Jade Crane, faced the heart-wrenching news of a potential miscarriage of her twins at just 22 weeks into her pregnancy. Despite their precarious start, the twins, born weighing as little as a block of butter each, have defied the odds and are now flourishing.
Jade, 43, had endured a challenging journey to pregnancy, including a decade of IVF treatments and previous miscarriages. When she surpassed the 12-week mark, she felt hopeful about the progression of her pregnancy. However, at 22 weeks and five days, doctors delivered the devastating news of a possible miscarriage.
Against all odds, Jade went into labor shortly after receiving the distressing news. Her daughter, Harley, was born weighing a mere 500g, with her twin brother, Harry, following an hour later at 520g. Now, at the age of four, the twins are thriving, much to the joy of their mother.
Reflecting on their miraculous journey, Jade described the twins as being the size of a Coke can at birth, with delicate features resembling Barbie doll fingers. Despite their tiny size, the twins have shown remarkable strength and resilience.
The twins’ premature birth presented numerous challenges, including underdeveloped lungs, heart issues, brain bleeds, and the need for surgeries. After spending five months in neonatal intensive care, the twins were finally able to go home a month after their original due date, defying the initial expectations of their survival.
Today, Harley and Harry attend a specialized school, with Harley having non-verbal autism and Harry being diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Despite these challenges, both children exhibit strong personalities and have not required hospitalization since their remarkable arrival.
Jade expressed gratitude for the progress and well-being of her children, emphasizing their resilience and the extraordinary journey they have overcome.
