Beloved Tabby Cat Lola Abducted, Found Dead: Owner Seeks Justice

Heart-wrenching video footage has surfaced showing the moment a cat was boldly taken from outside its residence by a couple, only to be discovered lifeless three days later. The incident, captured by a Ring doorbell camera at the home of Naseem Aktar, 51, depicts a man and a woman coaxing Lola, an elderly Tabby cat, from a neighbor’s front drive near Market Street in Bury, Greater Manchester. Naseem, a sales executive, frantically searched for her cherished 16-year-old cat after she was snatched on the May 25 bank holiday, which coincidentally marked the second hottest day on record for May.

Tragically, Lola was found deceased three days later, with her motionless body found under a vehicle just a few hundred meters from her home following the distressing video footage showing the couple absconding with her. The brief 30-second clip reveals Lola walking within the front area of Naseem’s neighbor’s property, enclosed by a low brick wall. The footage captures two individuals approaching the cat, who had perched on the wall, and then taking her away shortly after.

Naseem received a heartbreaking call on May 28 revealing Lola’s lifeless body under a car near a primary school, where it was determined by veterinarians that Lola succumbed to dehydration. Despite reporting the incident to the authorities, Naseem expressed her frustration as the police informed her that no charges would be brought against the couple due to the absence of applicable laws for prosecution. She criticized the police for their lack of empathy and accused them of neglecting her case.

Describing Lola as a cherished family member, Naseem lamented the unfortunate fate that befell her beloved pet. She expressed disbelief at the couple’s callous actions and urged for justice to prevent similar cruelty in the future. Despite efforts to locate Lola, including seeking video footage from neighbors, Naseem believes Lola ended up at an address on Surrey Drive, over half a mile away from their home.

The heartbroken owner recounted Lola’s gentle nature and emphasized the emotional distress caused by her disappearance. Naseem highlighted the police’s inaction in investigating Lola’s death, citing potential legal grounds for charges against the couple. However, the authorities declined to pursue the case, prompting Naseem to condemn the decision as “disgusting.”

Amidst the grieving process, Lola was laid to rest in the family’s back garden on May 28, surrounded by roses and flowers. Naseem hopes that by sharing Lola’s story, awareness can be raised to prevent similar tragedies. The police’s response to the incident has drawn criticism, with Greater Manchester Police stating that the case was closed due to insufficient evidence. Naseem’s concerns regarding the police handling of the matter have been forwarded for further inquiry.
