“12-Year-Old Paralyzed in Sleepover Shooting Tragedy”

A 12-year-old boy named Myles Beardsley has been paralyzed following a shooting incident during a sleepover at a friend’s house on April 4. The tragic event unfolded while Myles was staying over at his friend’s place, leaving him with severe injuries. His mother, Alora Beardsley, recounted the heart-wrenching experience, mentioning that they were watching a movie at home when they received the devastating news of the accident.

Alora shared that Myles had persistently asked to spend the night at his friend’s house, and although they hesitated, they eventually agreed, a decision she now deeply regrets. Myles sustained four gunshot wounds that entered his body and neck, causing significant damage to his spine. Alora described the distressing scene of seeing her son covered in blood but conscious before he underwent a nine-hour surgery to stabilize his spine with rods and screws.

Following the surgery, Myles was informed that he would be paralyzed from the neck down, leaving his family in shock. To communicate with Myles, his father devised a method where he recited the alphabet, and Myles blinked to indicate the desired letter. Subsequent surgeries were necessary to address injuries to his trachea and esophagus, prolonging his stay in the hospital.

After spending an extensive period in intensive care, Myles was transferred to the rehabilitation unit to continue his journey towards recovery. Despite the challenges, he received unwavering support from his loved ones and teacher, who brought him heartfelt messages from his classmates. Alora expressed immense pride in her son’s positive spirit and the outpouring of love he has received during this difficult time.

The family is currently seeking financial assistance through a GoFundMe page to cover expenses while they remain in Seattle with Myles as he undergoes treatment. The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing, with reports suggesting that a gun in the house was accessed by one of the children, leading to the tragic outcome that has profoundly impacted Myles and his family.

To support Myles in his journey to recovery, donations can be made to the GoFundMe page set up by the family.
