Police are in pursuit of a man connected to a shooting that occurred three months ago and have advised the public against approaching him as they consider him to be ‘armed and dangerous’.
Simultaneously, another person has been charged in connection with the killing of a police officer during a raid in Toronto, Canada. Zara Jabbi, a 19-year-old individual, is being sought in relation to a shooting incident at the US Consulate that took place in March. Authorities have issued a warning stating that he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Law enforcement officers emphasized, “If you spot him, do not engage. Immediately contact 911.” A photo of the 19-year-old has been circulated to aid in his apprehension.
As the search continues, Toronto is gearing up to host its first FIFA World Cup match, with fans from various countries flocking to cities across Canada, Mexico, and the US.
The city is set to host its inaugural World Cup fixture on Friday, June 12, as Canada faces off against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium.
In the aftermath of the tragic death of Constable Marc Pinizzotto, officers have expressed their gratitude to the public. Constable Pinizzotto lost his life while on duty on June 11.
The fatal incident occurred during a high-risk operation involving the execution of five simultaneous search warrants. A suspect, who was also shot by the police during the encounter, remains hospitalized.
Nicholas Bennett, a 19-year-old from Toronto, is facing a First Degree Murder charge in connection to Constable Pinizzotto’s death.
Authorities have confirmed that Jabbi is still at large and being actively pursued in connection to the US Consulate incident in March.
“We understand there are many inquiries. Due to the ongoing investigation, there are limitations to the details we can disclose presently. Further updates will be shared once possible,” stated the police.
